Interview with Sean Rourke ( Rawkey )

Love Music : Please introduce yourself to the readers and Who or what inspired you to get into this profession?

My Name is Sean Rourke Insurance professional and part time musician. I have always been into music playing and composing at an early age and following my love of house music I started to DJ in various clubs around Yorkshire. My close friend and amazing DJ Dean Arundel ( AKA Ginna) suggested I went into producing and I have progressed from there. Its only been six months since i started taking it seriously and everyday i am learning something new!

Love Music : We been hearing a lot about Rawkey Productions so we notice your starting to gain a lot of attention how does it feel?

Its nice to have people listen to your tracks and appreciate the work that goes into them. The most amazing thing is people from places i have never heard of have been in contact to say hello and we like what your doing music can connect people from the strangest places.

Love Music : What motivates you to do your best work ?

I love disco music and funky piano house I often listen to music for a couple of hours to get some inspiration before siting down to compose. My children often ask me to make them something new and they are the harshest critics so if I can see them dancing I know it might be well received.

Love Music : Please tell us more about Rawkey Productions Intoxicated?

Intoxicated is one of my favourtie tracks so far it reminds me of the mental nights in Leeds West Yorkshire in clubs like Federation and Fibre piano live saxaphone and everyone dancing with a huge smile on their face. Its being very well received and is currently with Spinning Pool records in their talent pool.

Love Music : Please share with us your proudest moments in Music ?

My Proudest moments in music was seeing my first record signed and live on Spotify and Itunes seeing your track up their with your artwork and people listening to it is an amazing feeling.

Love Music : Do you have any advice for anyone wanting to be a professional musician?

Don't let it rule your life! Music should be about expression and feeling it has to have meaning and most of all you have to enjoy what you are doing if you don't enjoy what you are producing you will never write your best work.

Love Music : Have you set some goals to achieve ?

I would like to set up a company helping children get into music production and take it around schools in Yorkshire. I would also like to work with disadvantaged people and ex offenders helping them find a new passion and possibly a carrier.

Love Music : Everybody needs time out. What do you do in your free time ?

I Work Full time and have a wonderful wife and two beautiful children so my spare time is spent with them. My music production gets a couple of hours when they are all in bed as much as i love music I love my family more so they will always come first.

Love Music : How can people find you and follow you online?

You can follow me on Spotify artist name RAWKEY and also on sound cloud https://soundcloud.com/rourkey22

Interview with Lord Avatar II

Love Music : Tell us a little bit about yourself. Your background, education etc. ??

I'm from Manchester, UK. originally but live in Stockport in the UK. In my early years I was an uncooperative child in school and subsequently was moved to boarding school. I left boarding school at 15 to commute to Liverpool everyday for schooling. I left without qualifications at 16. I later went to college to achieve my first few qualifications.

Love Music : We been hearing a lot about you, so we notice your starting to gain a lot of attention how does it feel?

It's kind of surreal to hear people talking about me and my work. It's a good feeling to know that people are enjoying the things I create.

Love Music : What are you working on now ?

At the moment I'm working on the first novel in a series. It's called Mage of Magic and it's a fantasy book about one boy who rises from simple orphaned farmer to becoming the hero of the world.

Love Music : What motivates you to do your best work as a leader of the Solaran Faith ?

Well, everything I have done, and will do, has been to raise awareness of the Solaran Faith and gain more followers. So I want to make a good impression on the people. That is what motivates me.

Love Music : If you could perform anywhere, in the world, where would it have to be?

I would love to perform right here in Stockport. Maybe arrange a little festival in the park for anyone to enjoy. I'd want to give back to the people of Stockport who have given me the most out of anywhere I have ever lived.

Love Music : Who are your musical inspirations ?

There are a few I have loved and tried to emulate. Karl Jenkins, Magnetic Man, Helen Jane Long, GAREK, the list goes on.

Love Music : Do you have any advice for anyone wanting to be a professional musician?

Don't do it for fame or money. Do it for the love of music.

Love Music : Everybody needs time out. What do you do in your free time ?

I'm an avid gamer and movie lover. So I spend my time playing games online and watching the latest films.

My smooth jazz adventure has officially taken off since 2011. When I was on holiday in a spa resort, I was positively abducted by these smooth sounds, so I was asked why not try to write music in that way?

So a sort of personal challenge !!!

And I must say with a pinch of pride that I have succeeded.

Love Music : Please tell us about your album "The Shades Of Smooth Jazz"?

I have tried in this album to pass on these soft sounds especially listeners not jazz technicians, but casual listeners, to serve as a goal and mission!

"The Shades Of Smooth Jazz" sees the

Extraordinary participation of saxophonist

And flutist Eric Daniel (who boasts

Artistic collaborations with Steve

Wonder, Tony Bennett, Ella Fitzgerald),

Who interpreted with mastery ed

Elegance all 11 tracks of my album,

Love Music : What kind of response you have received from your album "The Shades Of Smooth Jazz" ?

Now the data is said to be listening, on spotify we are in the charts, and especially my playlist ended up being among the top 50 in the united states.

Love Music : What has been one of the most exciting achievements of your career so far ?

Smiling as I say, I live above the present, so I would say this in particular.

Love Music : Apart from music what are your other activities?

I live with music, almost every day at my recording studio we engage with smooth jazz and bossa nova necklaces, which are among my favorite as genres.

Love Music : Who are your musical inspirations ?

The inspiration I usually find at night, looking at the stars, looking at the sea, sunrise, sunset, nature above all.

Love Music : What are your future plans ? Your vision for the coming years.

My next music challenge will be rearranging a 30 tracks that have characterized the history of the 70s / 80s in smooth jazz style and I'm already working on it soon you will hear it.

Love Music : Do you have any advice for anyone wanting to be a professional musician?

The advice I can give to those who want to undertake this magical activity is one: believe it to the full.

Love Music : Are you active on social media? what’s the best way to follow you ?
Social media is not the first place for me but with my teem we've been working for months, you can definitely follow me on spotify, which has become the new pillar of digital music.

Interview with Mika Mage - Member of ambient black metal Band : Nihilistinen Barbaarisuus

Love Music : Let’s talk a bit about you & your music and what is the secret behind your band success ?

The band has gone through an evolution over the past five years, starting as a trio with Me (Mika Mage), my longtime friend Manuel Rodriguez, and M.w.s. recording and releasing our first album ‘Synkkä Tuuli’ on Horror Pain Gore Death Productions; and most recently developing into a solo act with me producing the most recent EP ‘Madness Incarnate’ and releasing it on Black Lion Records and Symbol of Domination Productions.  All along the music has always stayed pure to the genre and vision, and we put our trust in the fans of ambient black metal music that they would understand and appreciate what we were going for, which is important because often those who don’t “get” the genre (i.e. the raw and lo-fi nature of the sound) would be heavily critical.  A lot of hard work also went into personally promoting each release; tons of CDs and lots of money from my own pocket went into sending albums out for review, but I felt it was important to eat that cost in exchange for making sure the music had a proper reception within the metal community.

Love Music : Can you please tell our readers more about the band members and their role in the band ?

Currently the only band member proper is I, Mika Mage; however, I do enlist the assistance of outside artists when making recordings for various reasons: I can’t drum or sing myself, I feel it’s important to have an actual drummer as opposed to a drum machine, and I feel it’s more dynamic to have more than just one person’s energy and talent contributing to a song or album.

Love Music : Please tell us more about your EP " Madness Incarnate " ?

With ‘Madness Incarnate’ the goal was to develop further upon the progressive black metal styling of the previous LP 'The Child Must Die', by infusing more doom, melodic, and brutal death metal influences.  I organized a talented group of studio musicians for the effort, including three guest vocalists: Joel Robert Thompson of Omelas, Gary Hadden of Lesch-Nyhan, and James Dorton of the hugely popular Black Crown Initiate.  Fans that have followed the development of Nihilistinen Barbaarisuus from its early days of raw atmospheric aggression will enjoy the dynamic range 'Madness Incarnate' encompasses, and hopefully perceive the artistic vision it displays for the future.  By-in-large it is the most well received release thus far, both from the fans and critics themselves.

Love Music : Please share with us your proudest moments ?

I would say my proudest moment would be when ‘Madness Incarnate’ got picked up by Black Lion Records and Symbol of Domination Productions (a sub-label of Satanath Records) for release.  I know it’s cliché to say, but a lot of blood, sweat, and tears went into making that EP and I was greatly humbled that such prominent entities in the underground black metal community would be interested in my music.

Love Music : If you could perform anywhere, in the world, where would it have to be?

Helsinki, Finland (I’m a dual citizen of both Finland and the United States, so I’d finally get to put my Finnish passport to good use!).

Love Music : Who are your musical inspirations ?

When I first started listening to music I was mainly into power and progressive metal, so I must say early on I was inspired by bands like Sonata Arctica and Rhapsody with some heavier material like Children of Bodom and Bal-Sagoth thrown in for good measure.  Later on I developed into more extreme genres and found myself mainly inspired by bands like Dismember, Akercocke, and Hypocrisy, with black metal specific influences being chaotic bands like 1349 and progressive bands like Old Man’s Child.  As a guitarist my hero is Jani Liimatainen of Sonata Arctica and Luca Turilli of Rhapsody; those guys are amazing and I’d do anything to have half their talent!

Love Music : Have you set some goals to achieve as a ambient black metal band?

As yet we’ve only recorded and released albums and have not been unable to play them live.  This is for many reasons, mainly that the band quickly became a solo act following the release of the first album and I haven’t been able to find live musicians interested in joining up to play music only I have creative input in, rehearsing it regularly, and playing shows for nearly no money.  The closest I came to performing live was in 2015 when Unearthly from Brazil wanted NB to open for them on the second leg of their US tour, but a live lineup just wasn’t able to form in time.  However, it is definitely a goal of mine to play live with NB at some point, it’s just there are many hurdles to face.

Love Music : How can people find you and follow you online?

We are on Facebook at facebook.com/nihilistinenbarbaarisuus or www.nbmetal.net (redirects to Facebook), ReverbNation at www.reverbnation.com/nihilistinenbarbaarisuus, and Twitter at twitter.com/barbaarisuus.

Julian Kelly: The Most Prolific Songwriter You’ve Probably Never Heard Of

By: Robert Skulder, Britain Collective of Music IV, Amherst Division.

In the songwriting world, Julian Kelly is a household name. If you’re stuck on your lyrics or songwriting for your big-budget project and you need an industry pro-- from the silver screen to Broadway, call Julian. She’s a genius. Literally.

She was tested as a child; she’s an actual genius.

Ms. Kelly has ghost-written for an incredible roster of main-stream artists, from newbies to multi-platinum selling performers. Yet, even with such immense success, she’s best known for her activism inside the adoption community, and often snubs all the glitter and glam of Hollywood for a simpler life. When speaking of her accomplishments, her many film, music, and publishing accolades are eclipsed in lieu of conversations about public transport in London, her inability to find good pizza in Paris, and how she once got lost in a rain forest near Tulum, Mexico. While she certainly loves the finer things in life, you’d never know it by just looking at her because Julian keeps an unusually low profile.

When I spoke to Julian by video chat, she was sitting at the piano, plunking out a few keys for a new musical she’s been commissioned to write, something she’s been very tight-lipped about.

“So how do you even start the mammoth undertaking of writing an entire show?” I asked her. She shrugged with a non-committal attitude. “I always start with whatever is really ailing me at the time.”

Right now, Julian’s troubled by a lot of things: politics, adoptee rights, a friendship that she really wants to be more, her dog’s skin problems, her Intersex/Transgender husband’s civil rights under the Trump administration.

Julian makes it crystal clear that her husband, Charlie is the love of her life and that his relaxed attitude helps to balance out her non-stop worrying. While Charlie and Julian are one of those rare couples who lead incredibly separate lives, their devotion to each other was obvious, as I perused hundreds of photos in which they were usually found showering one another with hugs and kisses.

Julian is Charlie’s second marriage, so she often jokes that his divorce was the best thing that ever happened to her. Charlie separated long before Julian entered the picture, but their connection was immediate. They married in California in a small beachside ceremony shortly after meeting in 2010.

“My wife completely saved my life,” says Charlie, who pulls no punches about how difficult it was to grow up Intersex/Transgender in the bible belt. Charlie was legally adopted through a step-parent adoption and agrees with Julian’s views of adoptee rights.

Charlie has seen first-hand how lack of adoption transparency affected his wife throughout their many years together. “There were times when Jules would just wake up screaming in the middle of the night. I mean, she’d be literally screaming in terror.” During the first few years of their marriage, Julian was often plagued by fears that her husband would leave. Once, when Charlie took an angry walk around the block, Julian collapsed into sobs, thinking he was gone forever. Years of therapy pulled her out of that dark place, but adoption certainly left its marks on her life. Yet, she insists that the generational ails will end with her.

“Adoptees deserve access to their original birth certificates, and it’s ridiculous to me that we have to convince legislators that we deserve the right to know our true birth dates, our parents’ names and our places of birth. The fifties really succeeded in shaming unwed mothers and bringing shame into the adoption process. We adoptees are here to communicate that shame and secrecy shouldn’t be a part of things. The adoption system is broken. People look at me like I’m flawed b/c I’m an adoptee. That kind of thinking is really messed up. Some adoptees are incredibly accomplished!” Julian says.

Flaws or not, Julian is without a doubt one of the most prolific musical writers of our time. When she described the ways in which some of her birth family snubbed her, it reminded me of the Netflix series “Haters Back Off.” With certain members of her birth family operating under the delusional assumption that their birth-status makes them superior. Some of them even seemed to think she was just looking for money.

“How many of them have gold status records?” I asked her, quipping as she chortled. “Are they owners of publishing houses? Why the rejection? I don’t understand what would make these average sounding people decide to reject someone so incredibly successful!” I said. It is a question that really does baffle me. Why do some families who are obviously lower in class, reject adoptees that have far surpassed them? Is it embarrassment, jealously—outright hatred?“Do they think you’ve got a chip on your shoulder or something?” I asked. Julian shrugged. “I don’t know. I don’t think of myself as superior to anyone. I think it’s probably their own insecurities being projected onto me.” Julian said.

“It doesn’t really matter to me that they don’t accept me.” Julian finally noted. “I lead a charmed life and I don’t need to pander for validation or approval. Anyway, I have my sister—who was the number one person I was looking for. I love Linda so much.”

Julian’s relationship with her sister Linda and brother William has made her life feel complete. “They were the ones I needed to find in order to feel whole, and now I have them. I have no complaints.”

Linda is a successful business owner and mental health counselor. William is going to be getting into real estate soon, and Julian glowed as she spoke about both of them. “I just love them so much,” she said, tearing up. “I love them more than words can express. I have to check myself and try not to be pushy because I like being with them so much that I want to get together all the time! I have to try not to nag them too much.” She laughed.

Her songwriting even reflects that she’s reached a little closure in her life.

“When I get into that writing space, I confront all the things which bug me—which helps me release them at the same time.”

Adoption has influenced her life, but many other things have too.

During our short interview, she spoke a lot about the power of stereotypes. Julian vividly remembers her days in high school and college. “I went to this awesome private Catholic school, where I had the most amazing music teacher Ms. McGowan. I had incredible music teachers who really helped me to blossom, but I also encountered a few that took the opposite stance, who gave me bit parts because they believed in type-casting, I think.” Yet, none of that slowed her down. She allowed nothing to get in her way.

In fact, a few songs from her album “The Family Reject” have recently become eligible for certified Gold status in certain countries, though Julian doesn’t seem too concerned with the vetting process.

“I drive around in a painted car for goodness sakes! That’s how much I care about status symbols.” I took the painted car comment as a joke until she brought the camera outside and showed me her small car, literally covered in house paint, which is a running joke among friends and family alike.

“My cousin Tina and I have had so many awesome laughs over my car! I’m never selling it. No matter how successful, I am…the car stays!” Then, I promptly asked her if it was true that genius was often close to madness? She laughed.

“I’ve lived on that spectrum my entire life, sometimes leaning one way more than the other. I think everyone does. Creativity always has a dash of madness in it.”

While Julian boasts a list of accomplishments and song-writing credits that most would kill for (including a Presidential accolade), she feels that life isn’t really about status, and focuses more on the importance of activism, being happy, and staying connected.

“So, will I see you at the Grammy’s next year?” I asked her, fingering a photo of her wearing a sparkling blue dress at a prior Emmy Awards’ ceremony.

“I don’t know. I’ll probably go if there’s nothing better going on.”

Interview With No Last Chances

Love Music : Let’s talk a bit about you & your music and what is the secret behind your success ?

Having a severe passion for music. It's what I love doing, so I never have to make myself sit down and do it. I find myself losing hours in the day just playing or singing away. That's sort of the secret I guess, doing something that I love and have a passion for. If I didn't love music the way I do then I would never have achieved some of my goals in the short time that I have. My music is very hard to talk about, or at least to describe myself. Others have described my music as rap, classical guitar, rock, metal screamo, hard core, Jazz. I get a lot of people telling me I sound like this, or that. That makes it very hard to define yourself, when no one else can define you ether.

Love Music : What are you working on now ?

I just finished recording my last album " A Step In The Right Direction " a month or so ago and I'm already back in the studio recording some new material. Though these are cover songs. I'll be doing a rock reimagining of "Imagine Dragons thunder" first and the rest are secrets for now. though I hope to do a week by week release for a month, challenge myself and see if I can do it.

Love Music : Please tell us more about, " A Step In The Right Direction " ?

This album is a serious step up from my last album as I have gone through a change in musical style, musical influences and have evolved my sound to how I wanted it to be from my first single more than 3 years ago. In similar style to my last album though, each song contains an issue I had gone through, though have had many life changing events happen to me in the time of writing and recording which influenced to this albums sound. I hope that everyone listening to my album can take something positive away from it, whether it be what not to do in their life, how to overcome an issue i faced myself or just something to listen to get them out of a negative mind frame to make a "A Step In The Right Direction".

Love Music : What motivates you to do your best work ?

Getting the see then end result and have it turn out exactly how I had it in my head, sometimes the end result exceeds anything I could of possibly imagined. That's my motivation to keep doing this after so many years. That and hearing how fans react to my songs, what they take away from it. Sometimes the biggest compliment you can get isn't that your song is great but that it helped someone get through a difficult time.

Love Music : If you could perform anywhere, in the world, where would it have to be?

Right now, Warped tour over in America.

Love Music : Who are your musical inspirations ?

I get this question a lot, and I always feel my answer is weird. I love bands like Issues, Memphis may fire, Attila, but more for their attitudes then their music. The love their fans, they respect them and some of these people go out of their way to help and engage with fane. This is something I admire and aspire to be able to do myself.

Love Music : Do you have any advice for anyone wanting to be a professional musician?

If you love it and have a passion for it, just go out and do it. People will be able to hear you passion through your music, even if its recorded in your garage for $10, the passions you put into it will show and people will respect that. I was in that position myself when I started and I've grown exponentially form that point. It will take a lot of money, time and effort form you but if you really love it, it will be the best thing you do.

Love Music : Everybody needs time out. What do you do in your free time ?

I have very bad time management. As I do this I am ruining on 4-5 hours sleep a day, working full time, recording, writing, performing, interacting with fans across the globe. It takes a lot to be able to balance everything, but amongst all this craziness, I enjoy just going for a coffee or chilling with my friends. Time to just laugh, talk crap and do nothing can be the best way to unwind personally.

Love Music : Are you active on social media? what’s the best way to follow you ?

yea, I have a lot of social medias that you can reach me on and I always respond to people so hit me up, I'm on Facebook, Instagram, twitter and of course you can find me on YouTube, Spotify, Apple music etc.

Interview with LONESCAR Band

Love Music :  Let’s talk a bit about Lonescar & your music and what is the secret behind your band success ?

Mike :

We’ve been around since 2013 but haven’t been able to go at the pace we want because Michael was off in San Antionio four hours away in college. He graduated last year, and with the year he’s had back with us, we managed to get an EP wrapped up and ready to unleash. I would say that a lot of the success we have gained is due to strategy. Some bands get started with no goal other than to “make it,” without so much as a clear understanding of the current state of the music industry. It’s safe to say these days that a band needs to operate as a small business. The ideal band should be able to produce original content without having to oursource (too much), engage with followers on a regular basis, throw their own productions and set up tours – there’s more, but I’ll spare readers the music marketing course. We work hard to set short term goals and realize them so that they can add up to our overarching goal of “making it”; becoming a professional touring act.

Love Music :  Can you please tell our readers more about the band members and their role in the band ?

Mike :

Brian handles all of the lyrics, occaisonally we’ll pitch in some ideas but he does a good job holding it down there. Michael is the sole guitarist in the band now and he’s really going through a ton of riffs as of late, so we’re all expecting some newly composed tracks coming soon. J.C. is a drumming force of nature. Michael will put together the music and J.C. comes in with the right beat to make the songs shine. I write my bass parts after the guitar is set, I try to plan the rhythm so that it supports the both the drums and guitar but also has some stand out moments when appropriate.
Outside of the music, Brian did a great job setting up the last quick string of shows we had across the state, so I feel confident is his ability to maintain that network. J.C. is an incredible welder and he’s currently in charge of some top secret Lonescar production work – we’ll debut that soon enough. Michael and I work together to plan out social media content and ideas for graphics or videos, which I put together. We’ve developed a solid system and I’m confident in this line up.

Love Music :  Please tell us more about your new EP " More Chingon Than Before "?

Michael :
I believe that it captures a moment in time when Lonescar is branching out to find their sound. It does have a little bit of everything, such as the thrashy banger “Nose in Corruption” to “5053”, which kind of flirts with melodic death metal. We experimented with samples, clean vocals, clean guitars, and tried to draw inspiration from many musical genres. I feel like it’s an excellent precursor of what’s to come in the near future.

Brian :
I feel this is the closest to the actual “LONESCAR SOUND” that we keep constantly trying to perfect. I am very proud of these songs, and can’t wait for everyone to hear it. Also it’s the first time I attempt clean vocals so let’s see how that goes.

Love Music :  Who are your musical inspirations ?

Brian :
Way too many, but the big 3 would have to Lennon, Morrissey, and Anselmo.

Michael :
A lot of my inspirations are cliché, and I’m not going to be “that guy” that tries to sound cool by name dropping obscure artists and genres. But as a guitarist, I’d say my top 3 influences are Dimebag Darrell, Marty Friedman, and Jimmy Page. They each have their own quality that I try to incorporate in my playing. From Dimebag’s chicken fried shredding and riffage, to Marty’s exotic weirdness, and Jimmy Page is just a god.

J.C.:

All the drummers out there living the type of life I want, making a living playing drums and all the great musicians they get to work with.

Mike :
Off the top of my head, I’d have to say Peter Steele, David Bowie and JacoPastorius.

Love Music :  If you could perform anywhere, in the world, where would it have to be?

Michael :
I would have to say the Alamodome. It can’t get any more Texan that. It’s a huge arena in the heart of San Antonio, Texas where acts like Metallica and George Strait have played. I’ve been to a few shows there, and every single one was electrifying.

J.C. :
THE COLISEUM!!!! MOST METAL VENUE EVER!

Brian:
Probably the Chichen Itza or Teotihuacan ruins in Mexico, they look metal as fuck. Put a band up there, I bet we would make contact with some other space friends.

Mike :
I want to headline a sold out show at Madison Square Garden. I don’t know why that venue means something to me, but I know that I want Lonescar there.

Love Music :  Do you have any advice for anyone wanting to be a professional musician?

J.C.:
Make sure you’re the type of person that is built with purpose and knows them self well to make that decision because you may have to give up everything else to achieve that goal.

Brian:
Just keep at it, constantly try to find the next YOU. Dream as much as you can, whenever you can. Dream insanely big because even if you don’t get to where you want to be, you’ll get to the level right under there and that’s still pretty good.

Love Music :  Have you set some goals to achieve as a heavy metal band?

Michael :

We have set a few short term goals for the band, such as going on our own small tours, production stuff, and just hashing out new music. These goals are of course catering to the long term goal of being signed, professional musicians that get paid for working our craft.

Love Music :  Are you active on social media? what’s the best way to follow you ?

Michael :

We are extremely active on social media. That’s where we get the majority of our buzz from. We try to be creative with our content by creating hilarious promo videos and engage with our fans as much as possible. You can find us on Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, YouTube, and Tinder.
