“The One Who Didn’t” – Inspired By Beethoven’s 5th Symphony

In this song, Alex Genadinik combined elements of classical and contemporary music by using Beethoven's widely recognized 4-note motif from his 5th symphony. The metaphor of Beethoven's 5th symphony is that the famous DA-DA-DA-DA sound is your life knocking on your door and asking what you are doing with your life.

With that in mind, the protagonist of the song hears Beethoven's famous melody and begins to wonder about what would happen if he doesn't accomplish anything with his life that he set out to do. As the song progresses, the listener gets to follow the protagonist's story about how Beethoven affected him.

This song has interesting lyrics. It touches on issues everyone deals with - what to do with one's life. If you like this song, take a look at Alex's other songs with metaphors. Metaphors really get the imagination going and when they are combined to music, they help the listener drift away into a different world, which makes music so special.
