Introducing Music By Alex Genadinik

There are many good musicians out there and each has something magical to offer. In this post I want to introduce you to Alex Genadinik and his unique songwriting.

He writes songs with unique ideas and imagery. Here is an analysis of his songs with metaphors. One example of his songs is Oh Michelangelo in which Alex uses Michelangelo’s famous painting “The Birth Of Adam” and repaints it to have two lovers caress each other in the song.

Alex’s other romantic songs similarly feature sweet lyrics and use similarly grandiose metaphors. His other songs have lovers meeting in their dreams on their stars as they fall asleep, in the clouds, on Romeo and Juliet’s balcony, and many other romantic settings.

But Alex doesn’t just write romantic sons. His lyrics focus on capturing a slice of life without being afraid of difficult situations or emotions. Yet in these difficult emotions, we find a lot of humanity. Our shared experiences as people is what makes songs about these kinds of topics such relatable songs - we can all identify because we have all been in these situations and we recognize ourselves in the story of the song.

He has a number of songs about loneliness, compassion, songs about support, hope, disappointment, and much more.

Alex got his inspiration from Bulat Okudzhava, a Russian singer-songwriter. Bulat Okudzhava was one of the best and most popular singer-songwriters in 20th Century Russia, but he is little known in the west because he wrote in a different language. Alex has translated some of Bulat’s songs to English to share them with English-speaking audiences. Here is a playlist of all of Alex’s translations ok Okudzhava’s music:

Alex keeps adding songs to this playlist so if you like his of Okudzhava’s songs, subscribe to his channel to stay up-to-date with his latest releases.

If you want to know more about Alex’s work, he doesn’t just do music. He is also known in the Elearning space. He is a very popular Udemy instructor and he even helps new Elearning businesses get started by licensing white label video courses to those companies so they can start by having a full library of online courses on day one.

“The One Who Didn’t” – Inspired By Beethoven’s 5th Symphony

In this song, Alex Genadinik combined elements of classical and contemporary music by using Beethoven's widely recognized 4-note motif from his 5th symphony. The metaphor of Beethoven's 5th symphony is that the famous DA-DA-DA-DA sound is your life knocking on your door and asking what you are doing with your life.

With that in mind, the protagonist of the song hears Beethoven's famous melody and begins to wonder about what would happen if he doesn't accomplish anything with his life that he set out to do. As the song progresses, the listener gets to follow the protagonist's story about how Beethoven affected him.

This song has interesting lyrics. It touches on issues everyone deals with - what to do with one's life. If you like this song, take a look at Alex's other songs with metaphors. Metaphors really get the imagination going and when they are combined to music, they help the listener drift away into a different world, which makes music so special. Take a listen to this song and other songs on Alex's website.

Alex Genadinik - Road Less Traveled

This is a song is inspired by the poem The Road Less Traveled by Robert Frost. This song is about how life is full of decisions and imperfect choices which lead to wondering about whether one made the right decisions and chose the right paths in their life. In the song, the protagonist wrestles with his life choices and wonders if he made right or wrong decisions.

The song ties Robert Frost's poem nicely with a modern person's experience and references the Road Less Traveled in the lyrics as a nice touch.

Oh Michaelangelo | Alex Genadinik

Just in time for Velentine's Day, Alex Genadinik released a beautiful and enchanting love song named "Oh Michaelangelo" which compares the tenderness of Michaelangelo's paintings to how lovers might touch. The protagonist of the song speaks to his lover about how he will paint with the tenderness of how he touches her. And through the song he does that all the while in the chorus, he sings to Michaelangelo directly, telling him that he painted his painting wrong and that in the painting should be the protagonist and his beloved.

This is a beautiful song to play for your loved one for Valentine's day so give it a try.

Alex Genadinik - Enchanting Woman

Alex Genadinik is a singer-songwriter influenced by both US and Russian singers like Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Bulat Okudzhava, and Vladimir Vysotskly. Alex's songs feature imaginative poetry and beautiful, thoughtful lyrics that are bound to make you daydream into new worlds. Alex also runs www.problemio.com and www.waveifyoulike.com

This song is a translation from an older but popular Russian song. Alex Genadinik translated this song from Russian and re-wrote a large part of it that he thought can be improved. Many of the songs we tend to like have imperfect poetry if you dissect the poetry enough. That is what Alex did and he made some interesting adjustments. The ending of the song became quite imaginative and sad. Alex says "there are a few lines in the first verse that I could have made better, but overall I am pretty happy with how the song came out"

I agree. The song's story feels complete and the song works. It is an emotional tear-jerker. Give it a listen and see for yourself..
