Interview with Tech Panda X Kenzani

Love Music : Tell us a little bit about yourself. Your background, education, music etc. ??

Tech Panda and Kenzani are two dynamic and forward-thinking artists based in New Delhi, India. Tech Panda began his musical education in childhood, 
playing tabla and keyboard which organically paved way for the next chapter- producing and performing. Kenzani grew up in the Caribbean which exposed him
to many cultures of music. He developed a liking for electronic music at the tender age of 11. 


Love Music : We been hearing a lot about you, so we notice your starting to gain a lot of attention how does it feel?

We still have a long way to go. We hope to work harder so we can deliver some game-changing music. It obviously feels good to be
acknowledged for your music as a lot goes into making it. 


Love Music : Please tell us more about your latest tracks? 

We have recently launched an EP called 'Ethnicity'.We stuck to our traditional indian roots and tried to connect electronic, modern sound to it.
The result is what came out in this EP. 'Naani' is one of our favorite tracks of the album as it maintains a upbeat, positive groove while easily being a 
dance anthem. 'Saawariya' is another favorite that blends authentic, indian folk vocals with chill step electronica. 


Love Music : What motivates you to do your best work?

We both share a passion for good music. We also share a vision for creating music that goes beyond borders.


Love Music : Who are your musical inspirations?

Our inspirations come from all over the musical universe right from the golden Ustad Nasrat Fateh Ali Khan to new generation international artists such as Axel Boman.


Love Music : Do you have any advice for anyone wanting to be a professional musician ?

Initially, it will look difficult. You have to be positive, focused and keep going. You will start seeing results once you cross that line. 
Keep practicing, making up new ideas & experiment as much as you can. We have made our best tracks while experimenting!


Love Music : What are your future plans ? Your vision for the coming years. 

We want to keep releasing good music & possibly collaborate with other singers/producers to push more musical boundaries! We are planning two more albums
by 2019.


Love Music :  If you could perform anywhere, in the world, where would it have to be?

We would love to play at different places around the world. Topping our list has to be Ibiza & Berlin. 


Love Music : Everybody needs time out. What do you do in your free time?

When we want to unwind, we usually hit a game of squash or listen to old Vinyls to get more inspiration. Other than that, both Tech Panda & Kenzani
are involved in other non music related projects. Traveling recharges us as well!

Interview with Derric Gobourne Jr.

Love Music : Tell us a little bit about yourself. Your background, education, music passion etc. ??

I'm a 19 year old New Jack Swing Artist. I'm a singer, songwriter, dancer, rapper and producer. I started performing at the age of 5 after seeing Mihael Jackson's "Thriller" video.


Love Music : We been hearing a lot about you, so we notice your starting to gain a lot of attention how does it feel?

I'm just very humbled that people dig the music. I only have two singles out from the album right now. To see the reception of those two singles is amazing. People have doubted me so many times, so it just feels really nice.


Love Music : Please tell us more about your upcoming project? 

The album is called "Supremacy". The album is supposed to be out in June. 14 original songs all written, produced and arranged by me. We got some amazing features on the album from Breeze2YaKnees, MC Knowledge ect. That's all i can say right now.


Love Music : What motivates you to do your best work as a rapper?

I just try to be original as possible. There's really no method to it. I let the song tell me what to do, and the rest i just put on wax.


Love Music : What is the best and worst thing about being a dancer?

The best thing about being a dancer is how you can make other people have fun. Me and my friends, everywhere we go we're always dancing and we turn every place into a party. People are smiling. laughing, having a really good time. And some of them even dance with us. The worst thing would have to be always being watched or always being asked to dance. Sometimes i just wanna watch other people dance, or sometimes i don't wanna dance at all. When you're out a club people would raher watch you dance than actually dance themselves, and they want to dance ALL NIGHT.


Love Music : Do you have any advice for anyone wanting to be a professional singer?

TRUST YOUR IDEAS!! Create what makes you happy! Don't worry about others. Some will dig you, some will not. That's life.


Love Music : What are your future plans as a songwriter? Your vision for the coming years. 

I want to be a well-known great writer like Babyface. I want to be the guy everybody goes to when they need hits. You, know i would really like to show my versatility in music. I want to write and produce for all genres and styles of music.


Love Music : If you could perform anywhere, in the world, where would it have to be?

Wembly Stadium in London. I've always dreamed about seeing my name in lights there saying "DERRIC GOBOURNE JR! TONIGHT! SOLD OUT!"


Love Music : Everybody needs time out. What do you do in your free time?

I study. HARD! Dance, Lyrcism, Musicianship, Production, Rhythm, Chord Progressions, Stories, Careers. EVERYTHING.

A Great Conversation with Teardrop Cult

Love Music : Let’s talk a bit about you & your music and what is the secret behind your collective's success? 

Some of us have been producing a long time such as Cosmic Light who has been producing for 10 years and some of us have just recently started. Persistence is probably one of the best ways we have been this successful so far. Using social media as a way to advertise has really helped too, for example, Connor, who uses his personal account to promote too. Our music goes from dubstep, EDM, lofi-hip-hop, and vaporwave. This will be the sound of the mixtape.


Love Music : Can you please tell our readers more about the collective members and their role in the band?

The collective currently has 4 members that consist of ACID CTRL, NXVA, Connor and Cosmic Lights. We all do our own thing and usually collaborate together. NXVA does lofi/vaporwave and most of the graphics, Cosmic Lights does EDM and dubstep, Connor raps and ACID CTRL produces Vaporwave/Synthwave. We're all unique and are equally important to the collective.


Love Music : Please tell us more about your upcoming album? 

It's called Colourblind, it will feature all four of us and show off our different and unique sounds which include vaporwave, hip-hop and EDM. It will be released soon on YouTube, Soundcloud, and other music streaming sites.


Love Music : Who are your main musical influences?

Our musical influences are very diverse from trap artists such as Ghostemane and Scarlxrd to Darude, Rick Astley to Getter. This makes us a unique collective because of how expansive our tastes are. 


Love Music : How has music shaped your life? 

Some of us grew up with different types of music genres, which helped the production of our music now. NXVA is a big fan of physical music such as cassettes and CDs which helps with creating physical media.


Love Music : If you could perform anywhere, in the world, where would it have to be?

Japan would be great for the aesthetic reasons, but realistically, most likely America as that is where we could hit a key fan group.


Love Music : Do you have any advice for anyone wanting to be a professional musician?

Do it and stick with it, it doesn't have to conform to what sounds "normal" or what people like, make it because you like it. Do it with a passion, if not, what's the point? 


Love Music : Have you set some goals to achieve as a collective?

We're just trying to release our album and get ourselves out there at the moment.

Two A&R Guys responsible for signing some of the biggest UK Garage Artists & Tracks from back in the day & crossing it over it from the street to the mainstream.

Q : Going back to your roots, where did you grow up?

Baron (PAUL) East London - Hackney
 
Fee (RUSSELL) North London - Enfield

 
Q : ok so You boys first met on pirate radio is this When you started taking music seriously?
 
Fee (RUSSELL) Yep on RUSH FM but were already busy previously with other projects & i was producing tracks on the gold seal label in the early 90s
 
Baron (PAUL) Erm that's right it was a long time ago in the mid 90's during the booyaka days of the Jungle/Hardcore revolution .

 
Q : What inspires you both?

Baron (PAUL) Musically we take inspiration from so many different styles of music, from Jazz, hip hop and beyond but From an A&R perspective selling units
 
Fee (RUSSELL) Paul inspires me lol


Q : When you were discovering new talent, what qualities did you look for?

Fee(RUSSELL) I don’t like to chase current trends I want to sign artists that I believe will have longevity and a strong impact.
 
Baron (PAUL) I liked working with artists that pushed the envelope in music & had a long term vision of building a solid foundation.


Q : With the current industry trend towards streaming, has that had an impact on your A&R strategy and what type of artists you want to sign?
 
Baron(PAUL) What streaming has done, is that it emphasizes how important the Single is rather than the depth of an album.
 
Fee(RUSSELL) We recognize this moving forward but it’s still important for A&R peeps to sign and build album artists who can create a good body of work. Hit singles will help propel album sales most definitely , but it’s still important for an artist to create a good solid back catalogue of work & albums.

 
Q : OK SO What are your current thoughts about the role of an A&R person in this fast-changing music industry?
 
Fee(RUSSELL) Well how i see it is that the A&R role hasn’t really changed too much, I mean the basics to keep discovering and nurturing new talent is still very relevant.
 
Baron (PAUL) There always an undiscovered talent out there & it's good to work with such great artists from the beginning & get to craft & to create incredible music that not only inspires us, but inspires people all over.


Q : How did you start working in the record industry itself ?

Baron (PAUL) We had already been Dj partners for a few years on Various pirate radio stations playing UK Garage, i was given the opportunity to work for a small vinyl record distribution company based in East London as an A&R man & things just kind of developed from there.
 
Fee (RUSSELL) I started working at a record shop in North London & whilst I was busy selling vinyl, Paul was bringing it in & signing artists. I then went on to develop this into a full time A&R role also.


Q : What artists have you worked with & what tracks were you involved in helping gain chart success ?
 
Fee (RUSSELL) Well we were signing artists and singles from the underground Garage scene which were seeing good sales through distribution and a number of them fortunately had chart success , tracks like Monsta Boy "Sorry", Edcase & Shelly Nelson "Something in your Eyes" & Jhay Palmer & David Howard's "Hello" Scott & Leon's "Shine On" amongst others that charted with at least a Top 30 chart positions

Baron (PAUL) Some of the even more well known successful artists such as Dj Luck & Mc Neat "A Little Bit of Luck" and The Architect's Body Groove" plus Wiley's Phase One Nicoles Groove come to mind & they all charted in the Top Ten.


Q : What are you up to at present & what are your plans for the future ?

Baron (PAUL) We are Currently working on promoting MUUSIC.DIGITAL & MUUSIC MEDIA with music promotion & digital distribution capabilities but which is essentially a DJ Digital Network incorporating MUUSIC.FM a 24/7 radio station & MUUSIC.TV where we live streaming events from clubs around the globe.
We are in the process of launching a whitepaper for the MUUSIC COIN a cryptocurrency which we already have support from big name DJ’s such as Roger Sanchez & Todd Terry who are ready to endorse the cryptocurrency. It has been very challenging navigating the new Technology such as the Blockchain etc.

Interview with JCraig

Love Music : Tell us a little bit about yourself. How has music shaped your life? 

Music has been a part of my life from childhood. I started off as a child, singing in our family quartet, I was learning the structure of the song, lead vocal, backing vocals, harmony, melodies and complimentary instrumental accompaniment. Being a good listener has been paramount, because little did I know, I was becoming a good composer through my appreciation for great compositions. You can hear a little bit of gospel, rock, r&b, jazz and blues in my music because I've played all of it at 1 time or another. To sum it all up, this is my life and I try to demonstrate what has transpired through the music that I produce.

 

Love Music : Your music is great for dancing. Do you like to play dance clubs?

I love to dance myself. When I was a kid, older girls would pay me to dance. Lol Not much, maybe 50 cents, a coke and a candy bar, but back then, that was saying something. If i'm performing, you will move, absolutely no sitting or standing still. I perform with some great dancers and we party for sure.

 

Love Music : Please tell us more about your upcoming album or project?

My 2nd album "Truth", which will include 3 songs and 1 remix already released, will have a great cross section of songs that will please most current music listeners. The 1st release, "For Eternity", was #36 on the DRT charts last year and we followed it with a techno version produced by Jackel from Vegas. The next song, "Put It On You", has a hot video that has received over 55K views. And of course "Risk It All", is being loved by fans all over the world and I think that the idea of taking risk to make an advance is enticing for most people. We will be adding 6 more songs to complete the "Truth" album. JCraig fans will not be displeased.

 

Love Music : What were some of your motivations for writing RISK IT ALL?

My life has been 1 risk after another, some good , some bad. But when I reflect on my past, I have to admit that all of the risk were necessary to get me here or else we would not be talking about JCraig. So "Risk It All" is me right now, a seasoned artist who by many accounts would be dated and not fresh with regard to the music of today.


 
Love Music : Who are your main musical influences?
 
My influences are many, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Rod Stewart, David Bowie, James Brown, Otis Redding, Temptations, Smokey Robinson, Jackson 5, Michael Jackson, Prince, Rolling Stones, Chicago, Tower Of Power, Earth Wind And Fire, Stanley Clark, Billy Cobham, John Mclaughlin, Herbie Hancock, Quincy Jones, Mighty Clouds Of Joy, Volonaires, on and on.


 
Love Music : We see that you are also a producer. Tell us about your production process.
 
I produce from my the melodies that are constructed in my mind. Sometimes it's a beat, other times its a hook or a melody. It's never the exact same way, but it always follows the same template. When I played in bands, we always had great rhythm sections and my songs will always have great rhythm and strong beats.


 
Love Music : What are your future plans ? Your vision for the coming years & your hopes for your new single?
 
My future plans are to tour and establish a strong fan base, continue to solidify the JCraig brand, hopefully break into the Hollywood motion picture click somewhere and spend tons of time with my family.


 
Love Music : If you could perform anywhere, in the world, where would it be? 

Wembley stadium, London. I've gotten great feedback from my fans in Great Britain.

Interview with Lynn Phipps & Joe De Leon

Love Music : Tell us a little bit about yourself. Your background in music etc... 

Lynn - I come from a family that has long been interested in music and artistry. Interestingly enough, I was shunned from the music scene initially, at the young age of 12; thankfully, being rejected only motivated me to try that much harder. Eventually, I found my way into punk, which was fun until it wasn't. After a really profound experience at a bluegrass festival I found my calling in roots music. From that day forward, bluegrass has been what I do.
 
Joe - I started music young with the middle school band, with a saxophone. I found out pretty quick that it wasn't something I would stay interested in, which ultimately led to a forceful ejection from the band (my director did not like hearing I wanted to quit). I got a guitar at 12, and I played for a while, but never as serious as I could. It wouldn't be until about 17 years old that I would start treating music like a career. But, once I found my way into college, some friends and I formed a band called Indie Pigeon that managed to last up until about April 2016. Since I found Lynn around December of 2016, it's been Bluegrass all the way.


Love Music : Please tell us more about your upcoming project album? 

The album is going to be gospel themed. Old-timey. A whole list of songs that we're hoping will sound like they're coming out of the Great Depression. It's going to be about 10 songs in length and maybe around 40 minutes long. Also, it's probably going to largely be live-tracked, to get that old-time feel. We're not entirely sure on the order or the release date just yet, but what we are sure of is the line-up and the feeling we want to communicate. It's going to be American music sprung from American roots.

 
Love Music : What motivates you to write your best songs? 

Lynn - It can be a little bit of anything. It could be a phrase, maybe an image. In the case of Maiden Girls, it was Joe being frustrating one day (true, but mostly joking here). Really, it's just things that I draw from my environment. A lot of different places are inspiration for me.
 
Joe - My best songs tend to come from determination. I get it in my mind that I'm going to sit down and I'm going to write something. Sometimes it doesn't work out, but sometimes I do it anyway. I know there's been a few songs where I kept stopping and asking myself things like, "Is this good?" and sometimes the answer was no (or at least, I felt it was). More and more though, I find that this doesn't stop me, instead it just makes me write harder. And I think that sort of "I am not going to stop working" determination has gotten me through a lot of writing.

 
Love Music : Who are your musical inspirations? 

Lynn - Without a doubt, Emmylou Harris. She was kinda the first foray into that folky sound for me. I'd heard country before, but I'd never really heard anything like that.
 
Joe - My inspirations come from feelings a lot. I guess it isn't so much who as it is what inspires me. I know it particular that there's songs by Mumford and Sons, Welch/Rawlings and some covers by Jack White that really inspire me, but I think too a lot of my musical inspirations are ideas of how things should sound. That's vague I know. But that's how it works for me.

 
Love Music : Do you have any advice for anyone wanting to be a professional musician ? 

Lynn - It's hard. It is not always glamorous. The way that popular music portrays it is not the average experience. There's no, you know, limos with champagne at the end of the gig, most of the time you just pack back into the van and drive 12 hours. If it's something you want to do, if you have the hunger to do it, don't let anyone tell you you can't do it. But if you do it expecting to have nice cars and mansions, then you're in it for the wrong reasons.
 
Joe - Work. Treat it like work and respect it like work. Because it's nothing less than that. And honestly, if you don't think you're good enough, then work until you are. I started out 2017 barely being able to play a singe lick of guitar. The best I could do was really basic picking. The way I was able to get any semblance of skill was by building that skill up, a few hours at a time. And you know what? I'm a lead guitarist. And if you're asking yourself, "does this work for everything?" just ask Lynn how she got to singing so well. She'll tell you, she did it a little bit at a time, for a long old time.

 
Love Music : What are your future plans ? Your vision for the coming years.  

Lynn - We always said 40 years of bluegrass.
 
Joe - Yep.

 
Love Music : If you could perform anywhere, in the world, where would it have to be? 

Lynn - The Ryman Auditorium.
 
Joe - At a rest stop in Kansas. Lynn agrees.

 
Love Music : Everybody needs time out. What do you do in your free time? 

Lynn - we both play Video games (especially Red Dead Redemption). We also really like to cook together, especially Chinese food. Oh, and I also like my judge shows.
 
Joe - Her judge sows are trash, but I love them too. I've actually come to appreciate paternity court just a bit, the judge on there is probably one of the best I've seen.
