Interview with DJ Paula Frost

Love Music: Tell us a little bit about yourself. Your background, education, music passion etc?

I’m from South London originally and spent my teenage years in the country. Now I live back in London, in Chelsea. Education-wise I pushed myself quite hard. I went to Henley College, a music academy called ACM and then did a music degree at Canterbury Christchurch University. I’ve always been into music from as far back as I could remember and I always knew what I wanted to do.

Love Music: Can you please tell us more about your first single 'OXYGEN TANK'?

‘OXYGEN TANK’ is my debut single. I came up with the idea when I was in the gym listening to Prodigy. I wanted to write a song as fast, bassy and badass as I could. I wrote it on my laptop with a synthesiser on Logic and when it had taken shape, I brought it to my best friend Joel and he co-wrote and produced the song in his bedroom studio. The feel of the track is quite hectic and the song is a statement, it’s me making my presence felt on the scene.

Love Music: Okay, what motivates you to do your best work as a DJ?

The crowd decide whether it’s going to be a great show or not. I’ve got to a level now where I can really work a crowd but it’s up to them to give that extra 10% on the dancefloor. I feed off the vibe. I’m also motivated by a lot of things like my family and friends. I want to be a rock to them so I work as hard as I can to make sure I can provide for myself and anyone who needs help.

Love Music: Great, What has been one of the most exciting achievements of your career so far?

Definitely my world tour. I flew to 14 countries broadcasting a punk and reggae radio show back to the UK and I DJed live shows as I went along. In Croatia I played Split, in Russia I was the resident DJ at a club called Nightschool in Moscow and went on tour with the punk bands there to St Petersburg and Smolensk. I played in New Zealand and Japan and did a road trip across America. Go to djpaulafrost.com/worldtour to read about it.

Love Music: Did you choose this industry, as a career, or as a hobby?

It chose me! It sucked me in! I began as a producer for Tippa Irie’s Pure Riddim Show on Kane FM. Then I got my own show. I was mostly into interviewing and having guests live on the show to perform and then I started to pick up the DJing side of things. Soon I got a phonecall from an agent asking if I wanted to be signed with them. I thought “Sure! Why not?” And the rest is history. Gigs started coming and I was really enjoying it. I’ve got better and better since that happened 3 years ago and I started writing music.

Love Music: Your favourite music Artist?

I love Crass. They’re an anarcho punk band from the ‘80s who gave punk music more of a meaning by fighting the system. I wrote my university dissertation on how their music was provoked by the political and social climate of the early ‘80s and how their legacy has lasted. I would encourage everyone to watch the documentary ‘The Day The Country Died’ to get the full impact of the band and what they meant. They basically invented DIY punk and started their own record label at a time when you just didn’t do that. They also gave fans advice on fanzines like how to make bread on one side and how to make a bomb on the other. They would hire out halls, decorate them with banners and put on their own gigs with a free buffet included in the ticket price. There is just no one like Crass and I am privileged to say I get to hang out with them sometimes.

Love Music: What’s your goal in life you want to achieve next?

I want to continue writing music and performing bigger and better shows. In the future I’d like to use my own voice more in my songs and also play the drums. I’m actually a decent drummer and have played since I was 8 so it seems stupid not to set up a kit on stage at some point and do that whilst DJing! Apart from that I just want to be a decent, loyal person who’s there for my family and friends and anyone in need. I hope at some point I get time to do some humanitarian work because I sponsor a little boy in Africa and I would like to go to his village and help out.

Love Music: Awesome, Everybody needs time out. What do you do in your free time?

I don’t really stop at the moment. I read this book called ‘Can’t Hurt Me’ by David Goggins and it inspired me to push for more in life and make the most out of my time. So I’ve developed a schedule where I wake up at 6am, spend 3 hours writing a book about my world tour, then I go to work as part of an editorial team for music magazines full time and after work I go to the gym and then keep writing my book. I DJ evenings and weekends. A year from now I will have finished the book and I will be writing more songs, developing my DJ skills and building a better home studio.

Love Music: How can people find you and follow you online?

Interview with The Man Called KNIGHTRO

Love Music: Tell us a little bit about yourself. Your background, education etc. ??

First off, I am the man called Knightro, and I hail from a small town in Mississippi named Brookhaven. My background is pretty much like everyone that was raised in the South, you dig? I was raised in the church, I grew up on Gospel music. Also, with a bit of soul, blues, and hip-hop. I graduated high school in 2005, and right before I graduated, I made it up in my mind that I had wanted to pursue a career in music.

Love Music: We been hearing a lot about you, so we notice your starting to gain a lot of attention how does it feel?

It feels pretty awesome, you dig? It’s like the old saying: hard work pays off. There’s been a few bumps in the road here and there, but throughout the past five years, I’ve just been grinding continuously, you feel me?

Love Music: Any upcoming project ?

I have an EP that’s coming out on February 28th entitled “King In My Own Rhyme.” It will be available on digital platforms. I’m currently working on a collaborative project with another artist by the name of Le’Trae (who’s actually my cousin). And I’m also working on another album. Both of those projects, hopefully, will be released this year.

Love Music: What has been one of the most exciting achievements of your career so far ?

As of right now, just putting out singles and projects, you dig? I’m also thankful for the fact that there are people out there that is listening to our music, and they are also reaching out to us saying that they are digging our jams. I find that as an accomplishment itself, but it’s just the beginning.

Love Music: What’s your goal in life you want to achieve next?

As I launch my own company (Word Lyfe, Inc.), I want to network and find some outstanding talents out there. Once I feel like they have a shot at success, then I can sign them to my label/brand. Acting has also been on my mind, so that’s still in the air.

Love Music: What motivates you to do your best work ?

Every artist needs some sort of inspiration, you know? On my end, my inspiration can be coming from current events, the stuff that I see around me, and more. Yet I believe that lately, most of my hardest materials have come from issues that I’ve dealt with in the past. Nonetheless, everything that I create comes with great results.

Love Music: Did you choose this industry, as a career, or as a hobby?

It’s been a hobby of mine as a child on to my early twenties. Then, it was a couple of years later when I decided to make it into a career.

Love Music: Everybody needs time out. What do you do in your free time?

Whenever I get some free time on my hands, I chill to myself most of the time. I catch up on some reading, exercising, and meditating. And there are times when I hang out with family and friends, you dig?

Interview with Sevy Campos

Love Music: Tell us a little bit about yourself. Your background, education, music passion, style etc. ??

I come from Arles, in the South of France. I am now 31 years old and since 2017, I have created my own music style, mixing the gipsy guitar with modern rhythms, singing in English. This a pop electro pop style which is having a great success on radio. The public is liking it and my music is listened all over the world.

Love Music: Can you please tell us more about your record label?

Bentley Records is one of the most prestigious record label in the world. They are based in New York City and signed me a few months ago. I am very proud to be represented by them. The boss Luca Dayz is an award winning singer, but also the boss of LuxoGroup International and many companies around the world. Luca Dayz is a young entrepreneur who knows what it takes to be successful and he has his own vision. He can be an inspiration for many people around the planet.

Love Music: Nice, And what do you wanna say about your upcoming Album?

Well, I am working very hard myself, to make it with all my soul. I make it modern, but it still carries a few messages. I want it to be a Classic and something that people can listen in 5 years or even more. Music has helped me big time in my life, and I feel mine can also help others. The album will not be released yet, but first, an extract of it will be released as a Single and that will happen normally in the few weeks.#

Love Music: Okay, what motivates you to do your best work?

I think every artist wants to make a better world. I want too, but I would like to leave a trace. I would also to transmit feelings through my music to everyone. My music is not only for an unique type of public. Music has no borders, it has no language, it has no skin colour, and it´s something magical. It can cross the oceans in one second..it make the tour of the planet many times in a day. My music is the continuity of myself.

Love Music: Great, What has been one of the most exciting achievements of your career so far?

When I listening for the first time my songs on the radio, in France in Spain,in the USA.

When I saw my song playing on MTV USA, or people dancing in a club on my music, in Colorado, that made me proud... But also when everyday when people are telling that my music makes them happy, makes the forget their life for a moment. That's all I wanted really.

Love Music: Did you choose this industry, as a career, or as a hobby?

Some people make it as a hobby and they are very happy. But I am in the music industry and I make a career by choice. I live only of the music. I love my life, even if it´s a lot of pression but I would not choose an other job.

Love Music: Your favorite music Artist?

I listen to a lot of music artists, but to name a few of them, I think of Ed Sheeran, who is a great songwriter. I like Maroon 5 and lately I have been listening to Cardi B. I am not really into Rap music, but ´she has something special that I like. Also, I have been listening to the miraculous voice of Abby Celso..who i discovered on YouTube...she is not very famous,..but she has an amazing voice.

The Gipsy Kings are still what I like, but I listened so much at them...that now I am main a pause of them ! :)

Love Music: What’s your goal in life you want to achieve next as an Poet?

I have no limits in my goals in life. I don´t want regrets. So I will try to realize every dream I have. Like singing for the Capital´s summertime ball would be great.

I would want also to tour internationally and with my record label we are in the progress of making it possible.

Love Music: Awesome, Everybody needs time out. What do you do in your free time?

Believe or not, I don´t need some time out. I am working hard and I don´t want to do things in my life which are not producing a value. If I go to the night club, my next day is compromised. I make a bit of sport running to evacuate the stress. That´s nearly all.

Love Music: How can people find you and follow you online?

They can follow me every where. I am on Facebook, on Twitter, on YouTube, and on Instagram instagram.com/sevycampos.off

They can listen to my music on Spotify and all the others platforms...

I am always happy to respond to anyone..

Interview with Mac-Gee

Love Music: What is your name and where are you from?

I’m Mac-Gee and I’m born and raised in Chicago IL now residing in Las Vegas NV.

Love Music: Tell us about your history as an artist.

Well I been around music my whole life my dad is a local DJ so he was always in the house spinning records and my grandmother was a singer so you cam kind of say its in my blood. I started to get involved with music when I was 8 years old but started rapping when I was 12. Growing up I played a few instruments from the Saxophone, to the Piano, but now I picked up the guitar and have been playing that for about 3 years now.

Love Music: What is the latest release you have out and where is it available?

The latest song I released is Fast as Hell which is a punk rock hip hop song. You can get this song on all streaming platforms from Spotify Apple Music tidal etc etc.

Love Music: If you had to describe your music to a potential new listener, how would you describe it?

Well I don’t like to describe my music to a potential listener I rather for them to get to know me which will help them understand my mind just a little and enough where they will be intrigued and want to just hear what I have to offer.

Love Music: What makes your music stand out from the others in today’s crowded industry?

Well to be honest I take everything serious, I pride myself on being a great lyricist having outstanding concepts and also creating music that I love and like. I use to try and make the music that was popular but it never sounded right to me and never resonated with people well so when I stopped chasing their sound and focused on my own sound thats when I realized I have something unique and new to give to the industry, it may not catch on right now but I know it will be noticed sooner than later.

Love Music: Who is your favorite artist?

I have a lot of favorite artist but if I’m only able to pick one I would have to be Lil Wayne, reason being is that Lil Wayne is so creative and he never did what people expected him to do you think he’s going right then he makes a sharp left turn his work ethic is unmatched and his drive to succeed is sometimes scary so yeah I would defiantly pick him.

Love Music: Do you think an artist needs a record label in today’s business?

No not at all the way technology is set up an artist can be successful without a label but then you have to figure without a label you have to put in way more work and invest way more of your personal money to make things go the right way but no a artist in today's game doesn’t need any labels.

Love Music: What do you hope to achieve through your career as a musician?

Well my main goal I want to achieve is being able to vent through music but also my venting assisting someone else in getting through tough and hard times. I also want to be able to give my parents everything they want to be honest I’m not a person who thinks about self a lot of course being financially stable is always a goal and being acknowledged and rewarded for my works is a must but I want the ones around me to reap the benefits a lot more and touch as many lives as possible.

Love Music: If you could collaborate with anyone alive or from the past, who would it be and why?

Wow that is a great question to be honest I would have to say one of my guitar idols Prince, he was truly ahead of his time he was a guitar god and he played like 11 to 15 instruments he produced all his own music and it was flawless. I know working with him I would honestly learn so much from him and be able to use it in my music and be able to create masterpieces just like him.

8 to 24 - A Kobe Tribute

Stage Name: J Starr
From: Brooklyn, NY
Song Title: 8 to 24 - A Kobe Tribute

As a song writer I try to write from emotion & reality. This tragedy hit the world so hard & so unexpectedly. Like so many others, I was feeling down about Kobe, his family & the other families that were involved in this tragedy. I put this little song together & it made me feel a LITTLE better & maybe it will do the same for others who hear it.
